Dozens of horses including 15 for jumping and over 80 polo ponies fill the stables at Casa de Campo, which makes finding the proper pony as easy as a trail ride. Scenic romps include a one-hour golf course ride, a two-hour ride through tropical trails by the Chavón River and two three-hour advanced rides; one through sugarcane fields to the cane-cutter's village and the other a ride outside of the main resort at Rancho Peligro (three days notice is required).

Expert staffing is on hand for lessons in English or Western-style riding, jumping, dressage and polo. Guests of Casa de Campo may also request instruction in grooming techniques, rodeo stunts or sign up for a hilarious game of donkey polo. Private guides can be arranged for individuals or groups.

For young children, rides are available on Anita, Juanito and Miguelito, the center’s three ponies. Special private trail rides can also be arranged.

If you’re seeking the thrill of polo, the Casa de Campo facilities are among the best in the Caribbean. Consisting of three playing fields, one practice field and the largest string of polo ponies under a single brand in the world, there is no place better to enjoy this rigorous and engaging sport. Equipment, group instruction and personalized training are available for beginners and medium-goal players. Guests may hire ponies for stick and ball tournaments and families can compete against each other in matches held each week.

Regular polo matches are played throughout the week during the season, which begins in early November and ends in April. Domestic cups and international tournaments are organized during the season and all teams are encouraged to enter.

Please note: long pants and closed shoes are required to ride at the center. Children must be over seven-years old  or have prior riding experience.

In 1976, on a verdant plateau 100 miles east of Santo Domingo--the historic capital of the Dominican Republic--an extraordinary cultural undertaking began to unfold. Dominican stonecutters, woodworkers, and iron-smiths combined their crafts to create the rich architectural landscape that would emerge as Altos de Chavon.

Today this vibrant cultural village perched high above the Chavon River embodies half a millennium of the island's finest tradition of crafts and art. The distant mountains of eastern Hispaniola merge with the sea to create the perfect setting for this celebration of the region's past. Nearby is Casa de Campo , one of the Caribbean's most complete resorts.

A walk down the cobblestone paths of Altos de Chavon reveals, at every turn, architecture reminiscent of another era. Coral block and terra cotta buildings enfold craft workshops, artists’ studios, galleries, shops, and restaurants. Complementing this tranquil evocation of the past is the exuberant artistry of today.

The Altos de Chavon craft ateliers are small production centers where trained local artisans execute ceramic, silk-screen, and woven-fiber products. These works are at once respectful of the island’s history yet boldly international in design concept and quality. From the lively clay apothecary jars to the brightly colored tapestries found in traditional Dominican houses, the craft ateliers keep the richness of island myth, folklore, and handcrafted expression very much alive. The posters, note cards, and printed T-shirts produced by the silk-screen workshop are among the most authentic in the Caribbean.

The performing arts are showcased in the village's spectacular 5,000-seat open-air amphitheater. Since its inauguration in 1982 by Frank Sinatra and Carlos Santana, the amphitheater has hosted concerts, symphonies, theatrical events, and festivals featuring such renowned artists as Julio Iglesias, Gloria Estefan, Sergio Mendes, Dizzy Gillespie, Air Supply, Pilobulos, and the Dance Theater of Harlem.

The village is a vital source of inspiration, professional training, and artistic expression. Diverse educational and artistic programming, in a breathtaking natural and architectural setting, provides Altos de Chavon with its unique ability to stimulate creativity and cultural interchange.

Casa de Campo is a luxurious 7,000-acre oceanfront resort community where beautiful villas, lots and apartments are surrounded by sugar cane fields and lush tropical foliage. Located in the heart of the Caribbean on the south eastern coast of the Dominican Republic, a country known for its warm and friendly people. Casa de Campo is both a magnificent resort and the ideal vacation investment for people from all over the world.

Casa de Campo, in La Romana, is situated on the southern shore of the beautiful island of Hispaniola (in the Dominican Republic), two hours east of the capital city of Santo Domingo. With three championship courses on the property, it offers some of the best Golf in the Caribbean.

Only in the past couple of decades have the grand resorts really discovered the potential of the Dominican Republic, and their presence on the island is growing almost exponentially. Casa de Campo, sprawls over more than 6,900 acres and is the most famous and, arguably, the most luxurious of them all.

Casa de Campo is a world-within-a-world of private villas, hotel suites and rooms, nine restaurants, ten bars, three golf courses, a beach, three swimming pools, 13 tennis courts, a world-class spa and health club, horseback riding, polo, and skeet shooting and, of course, shopping. Casa de Campo is huge, so big in fact that you need a golf cart to get around.

Other attractions include Altos de Chavon, a recreation of a 16th century Mediterranean village and a step back to a time when life moved much more slowly. Altos is a charming collection of shops, restaurants, and cultural attractions.

The resort is also home to several of the most celebrated golf courses in the world. In fact, golf has played a major role in the development of Casa de Campo's international reputation. Its most famous offering, Teeth of the Dog, designed by Pete Dye and opened in 1971, and was ranked number 17 on Golf Digest’s “Top 100 Courses Outside the US” in 2005. Two more Pete Dye complete the Casa de Campo collection and, together, Casa’s “Three Amigos” offer a rare opportunity for the golf vacation of a lifetime.

Buying a villa automatically makes you a member of the exclusive Casa de Campo Villa Owners’ Club. Your select membership will make owning a villa not only enjoyable but also profitable. You’ll enjoy your villa, relish your time there, relax and have fun.
